IAIFI Funding Renewed by the NSF
We are thrilled to announce that IAIFI has been awarded a five-year renewal from the National Science Foundation’s AI Institutes program! This renewed investment will allow IAIFI to continue pioneering research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and physics, while expanding our reach and impact in exciting new ways.
Since launching in 2020, IAIFI has grown into a leading hub for AI+Physics research. Through a collaboration among MIT, Harvard, Northeastern, and Tufts Universities, our researchers have published over 300 peer-reviewed papers and released over 200 software packages, building the foundation for a new interdisciplinary field. In renewal, Boston University (BU) will join the collaboration, spearheaded by former IAIFI Fellow Siddharth Mishra-Sharma who is now an Assistant Professor at BU.
In IAIFI’s next phase, we will continue to develop AI aimed at deepening our understanding of the universe, and to use physics principles and challenges to drive AI innovation. We also have ambitious plans to expand our reach and impact in several areas, which we will share with you soon.
None of this would be possible without the vibrant community that has grown around IAIFI. Whether you are a researcher, student, industry partner, or simply curious about the future of AI and science, we are grateful for your support and engagement. Thank you for being part of the IAIFI community!
